Run Your AI Job Search Locally
Tailor AI is a self-hosted application: the code runs on your machine, your resume and job data live in your own local database, and you connect your own API key for the AI calls. Open source under the MIT License.
In plain language
What "self-hosted" actually means here
No developer background required to understand this.
Runs on your machine
Tailor AI is an application you install and run locally — typically inside Docker — not a website you rent. Your jobs, resume and history are stored in a local database on your computer.
Bring your own API key
The AI analysis calls go from your machine to the AI provider you configure, with your own key. You choose the provider and the billing account — there is no central Tailor AI service in the middle.
Open source (MIT)
The entire codebase is public on GitHub under the MIT License. You can read it, run it, and fork it — nothing about how it works is hidden.
You control it
What gets searched, what gets stored, what gets sent — the configuration and the data are yours. Uninstall, and the data goes with it.
The difference
Hosted tool vs. local-first
Traditional hosted job tool
Your resume and application data are uploaded to the vendor's servers. The vendor's infrastructure processes them, and you depend on their service, pricing and policies.
Tailor AI — local-first
Your resume and application workflow stay in your local environment. The only external step is the AI call you configure to the provider you choose. No vendor between you and your data.
Being precise about privacy: "Local-first" does not mean zero network traffic. Job boards are fetched over the internet, and AI analysis is sent to the AI provider you configure — that's how matching and tailoring work. What local-first means is that your application data lives with you, and you decide which external services are involved.
Installation
Run it in one command
Pick your platform, copy the command, paste it into PowerShell or Terminal, and press Enter. The installer checks Docker, builds the app, and opens it in your browser.
Already running it? Check a resume match or run a search.
Next step
Take control of your job search
Self-hosted, open source, local-first. Install Tailor AI, bring your own key, and keep your data where you can see it.
